Franz has a problem again: his best friends Gabi and Eberhard keep arguing and each want Franz all to themselves, which doesn't work out well. A joint project is just what they need, and mysterious jewel thefts come in handy. The three amateur detectives have a suspect too: the unfriendly neighbor Mrs. Berger is hiding a secret. Franz throws himself into the case and has to discover that many things look completely different on closer inspection than they first appear.
